Avery Buffa

Avery S. Buffa, associate, focuses on nonprofit and tax exempt law, corporate formation, commercial real estate, and employment law. Mr. Buffa also counsels clients on a wide array of federal, state, and municipal tax matters.

Avery’s prior professional experience includes working for the Northern Trust Company, where he managed its donor advised fund and counseled high-net worth individuals and families on charitable giving strategies and vehicles, large gift agreements, and private foundation administration and management. He also was as an associate attorney with Mosher & Associates, LLC, a boutique law firm focused on serving tax exempt and religious organizations.

His pro-bono legal work has included volunteering for the Chicago Legal Aid Clinic and providing legal counsel to several Chicago-area nonprofits. In addition, he was appointed by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals for a direct criminal appeal.

Avery graduated from DePaul University College of Law in 2010, where he also received his bachelor’s degree.

He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and its Federal Taxation, Real Property Law, and Employment Law Committees.
